Former MP E Ahammed was won in 2014 with a margin of 1,94,739 votes, which is the highest margin from Kerala State. Muslim League hoping more bright victory at Malappuram Loka Sabha Constituency when PK Kunhalikutty is contesting for IUML candidate.
Congress had reportedly requested IUML to rethink fielding Kunhalikutty in the upcoming bye-poll. The Malappuram parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Former Union Minister E Ahamed on February 1. He was one of the longest serving parliamentarians from Kerala, having been an MP seven times for 26 years.
2017 Malappuram By Election will be held on 12th April 2017 and results will be published on 17th April 2017.
