Alappuzha district have 9 legislative assembly constituencies(Niyamasabha Niyojakamandalam) at Kerala Legislature. Cherthala is the most polled constituency in Alappuzha district which is 86.6%.  Aroor, Cherthala, Alappuzha, Ambalappuzha, Kuttanad, Haripad, Kayamkulam, Mavilkkara and Chengannur are the nine Legislative.  Alappuzha scored an average of 79.88% polling around all constituencies.

In 2011 Assembly Election, Alappuzha district majority was won by LDF with seven constituencies whereas UDF won only two constituencies. This record is showing that Alappuzha is the strongest District of LDF especially CPIM.
